Steve Andreas – Reframing Recursively
What you’ll learm in Reframing Recursively
This video contains two training segments from from the 2010 Advanced Mastery Training featuring Steve Andreas. The first training segment begins with an example of using the “prior cause” reframing pattern recursively with a client: “And that’s because. . . ?” This simple intervention can lead to a powerful shift in a client’s perspective. Even more exciting is that there are many similar interventions possible using the same simple principle of using the standard NLP reframing patterns in this recursive way.
In this video, Steve uses a content-free sentence stem, along with supporting nonverbal analog gestures. This is followed by a review of how all the different reframing patterns can be understood as ways to change the scope, category, or logical level of someone’s internal representations. A demonstration of using the “smaller frame” pattern recursively is followed by an exercise.

The second segment explores the unfortunate unconscious implications hidden in the outcome, “losing weight,” which will sabotage or obstruct reaching that goal. This is followed by an exercise using these principles to examine other outcome descriptions for unhelpful implications.
A detailed 5-page handout from the training is available here with no purchase necessary. This handout includes all the different reframing patterns with incomplete sentence stems to make them easy to use in a content-free way, as well as a unique section on Implication:
Two Video Options
#1: Large Movie Download—for broadband connections
Save on shipping!
A 556MB (large) HD movie, great for practicing fine sensory acuity. This file will take anywhere from 1-3 hours to download on a broadband connection depending on the speed of your internet service. Do not purchase this large file if you are on a dial-up 56k connection, as it will take almost a full day to download.
As this is a large file, make sure you have sufficient space available on your hard drive before purchasing.
#2: Small Movie Download—for dial-up connections
Save on shipping!
A 214MB (smaller) movie clip at somewhat lower than HD quality, but still quite good. This file will take approximately 10-30 minutes to download on a broadband connection, and up to 4.5 hours on a 56k dial-up connection.
Note: do not download directly to an iPad or smartphone.
If you want to watch the video on a smartphone or iPad, download the file to a desktop or laptop computer first, then move it over to your mobile device. Downloading directly to a mobile device will cause problems.
