Daya Grant – Yoga For Concussions Online Course
Yoga teachers are typically well-versed in dealing with orthopedic injuries, but our knowledge of concussions, often referred to as the “invisible injury”, is usually limited. With neurologists encouraging concussed individuals to begin gentle movement early in the recovery process, it is prudent that yoga teachers understand how to safely and effectively teach to this injury.
Yoga for Concussions is an introductory course on concussions and how to integrate yoga during recovery. It presents the neurobiology underlying concussions, explains the benefits of yoga for concussion recovery, and provides guidelines for designing a concussion-friendly yoga class. Your instructor, Dr. Daya Grant, is a yoga teacher and neuroscientist, having focused her doctoral dissertation on the long-term effects of repeat concussions. Dr. Grant designed this course to help yoga teachers understand this complex injury and to empower them to provide a healing environment for their students.
