Course Objectives and Schedule
After completing this course you’ll be able to:
- Assess client readiness using Prochaska and DiClemente’s 5-Stages of Change.
- Explain three aspects of a habit loop.
- Use at least 3 hypnosis techniques to reduce unwanted behaviors.
- Use at least 3 hypnosis techniques to increase motivation and desired behaviors.
- Create a smoking-cessation treatment plan for a client.
- Create a behavioral weight loss plan for a client.
- Apply at least 1 technique to reduce the intensity of a craving.
Module 1: Smoking Cessation
- Part 1: Assess & Break Habit Loops
Prepare your client for success by assessing their readiness using the 5-stages of change, and explain three aspects of the habit loop. - Part 2: Use Targeted Inductions & Suggestions
Craft personalized protocols for each client, selecting from several inductions & dozens of suggestions that banish cravings, reduce stress, and boost motivation. - Part 3: Reinforce Success + Demo
Explain how to use follow-up and maintenance sessions to increase client success. Review video demonstration utilizing hypnotherapy for smoking cessation.
Module 2: Weight Loss
- Part 1: Explore the Function of the Food
Assess emotional needs clients are trying to meet with food. Teach new self-care strategies with self-hypnosis. Craft suggestions that build from each client’s strengths. - Part 2: Create a Healthy Mindset
Create suggestions that promote a healthy relationship with food, boost motivation to exercise, and decrease cravings for unhealthy foods. - Part 3: Review a Demonstration Video
Review and discuss a video demonstration using hypnosis techniques to enhance healthy eating, increase motivation to exercise, & nurture the self.
Module 3: Curb Cravings
- Part 1: Reduce Drug Cravings with Memory Reconsolidation
Apply new insights from memory reconsolidation research to reduce drug cravings, and review video of a research experiment designed to weaken cravings for alcohol. - Part 2: Curb Cravings with NLP Techniques
Demonstrate how to alter imagery, heighten sensory awareness, and use role-play games to disrupt patterns, condition new responses, and teach clients new coping strategies. - Part 3: Explore the Root of a Craving
Identify emotional memories driving unwanted patterns and use Courtney’s RECON protocol to update core beliefs, change emotional responses, and resolve inner conflicts.
