Allie Duzett – Midline Healing
Description Of Midline Healing
The midline is a groove that runs between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. It’s kind of like the spinal column of the brain. The midline is the boundary between the left and right of the body, the part of us that maintains our biological symmetry. It’s a tricky part of the anatomy because all of us need very particular boundaries functioning on the midline: we need each half of our bodies to be able to function separately, and we need our two halves also communicating and working together.
For example, to walk, you need to move both legs at different times independently–BUT they must also communicate one side to the other, so that you don’t fall over.
To write, you need to hold a pen and move it one letter at a time to form words on a paper–BUT you must also hold the paper still with your other hand and think of the things you want to say. To do this, you need a really functional midline!
The midline needs to function as a wall between the left and right hemispheres, but also as a bridge between them. When the midline is not functioning correctly, we can end up with a host of physical and emotional problems.
Midline issues are linked to ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, chronic anger, chronic frustration, and a whole host of other neurological and behavioral problems. Here is a paper on midline issues and psychotic and mood disorders. When the midline of the brain is not functioning well, the entire rest of the body, mind, and emotions are seriously affected.
In this session, we’ll be working on the energy of the midline. Again, I’m not a doctor and this is not a treatment for anything. Instead, we will be working on the energy and emotions involved in midline problems and seeing for ourselves how shifting that energy can change the functionality of our brains, and then our whole bodies and minds and emotions.
